Carry and duty is one lane we take seriously, and in it the new CZ DUTY 4.0 is the release of the season. CZ's new-generation striker-fired 9x19 runs on a serialized internal chassis, which leaves the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame as a modular part. The slide mounts a red dot directly, fixed sights stay on, and the 4-inch barrel is unthreaded. The refined SFDA trigger breaks at 25±4 N (5.6±0.9 lbs) with 9±1 mm travel and a 4 mm reset.

Four models, two sizes. DUTY 4.0 C, compact: 15+1 standard, 17+1 on the extended base plate, 770 g, 135 mm. DUTY 4.0 F, full-size: 17+1 standard, 19+1 extended, 780 g, 143 mm. The chassis is registered and modular, which is CZ's way of making the grip module swappable. The frame itself is fiberglass-reinforced polymer, 33 mm (1.3 in) wide, on a four-inch barrel and a 188 mm (7.4 in) overall length. The SFDA trigger breaks at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) and resets in 4 mm (0.16 in). Optics mount directly to the slide; the photos from CZ show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield footprints.

This is the shorter grip of the two DUTY frames: 135 mm (5.3 in) from the top of the slide to the base plate, 770 g (27.2 oz) empty, 15+1 rounds standard and 17+1 with the extended plate. The slide and four-inch barrel are the same as the full-frame gun, so it shoots like one.

This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three passive safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.

Who is it for: daily carry, a home-defense gun that also rides along, and new shooters who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.
